About the Folk Music Package

In the 1960s, Greenwich Village gave way to one of the most prolific music movements of all time, the American folk movement.  Artists Bob Dylan, the Mamas & the Papas and Joni Mitchell started their careers in iconic clubs the Bitter End, the Gaslight Cafe and The Bottom Line. Often equipped with nothing more than a guitar to strum, a story to be told and a melody to be unleashed, these American troubadours shaped the music, politics and culture of an entire generation.  Just blocks away from the neighborhood that shaped a movement, Schimmel Center presents a collection of American folk song masters.
