Pass on a classic holiday tradition to your family with The State Ballet Theatre of Russia’s traditional staging of the perennial classic The Nutcracker. This full-scale production is set to the classic Tchaikovsky score and tells the tale of a nutcracker prince and the young girl who loves him as they journey up the Christmas tree to the magical land of sweets. With a lavish set, stunning costumes, dancing snowflakes, and marching toy soldiers, this ballet offers all the holiday magic of Christmases past.
Founded by legendary dancer and former Prima Ballerina of The Bolshoi Theater Ballet, Maya Plissetskaya, The State Ballet Theatre of Russia is now under the direction of award-winning dancer and Moiseyev dance company soloist Nikolay Anokhin. The company has toured with productions of traditional Russian classics throughout the United States, France, Germany, Holland, and Czech Republic, as well as in India and throughout Africa with engagements in Tunisia, Zimbabwe, and Ethiopia.
Among the company’s 55 dancers are many distinguished Russian artists and winners of many international ballet competitions including: Svetlana Noskova, Yuliya Nepomnyashchaya, Alexandra Alimova, Elena Batishcheva, Marta Filippova, Anastasia Rusina, Denis Kaganer, Alexander Lityagin, Vladislav Ivanov and Valentin Shustikov.
