Body Beautiful – Part II

Art History Alive with Dr. Janetta Rebold Benton

Lecture

WED

NOV 2

Time: 12:15 pm

Price: $29

The human body is the subject that appears most frequently in art. Dr. Benton examines artists’ depictions of men and women, clothed and unclothed, revealing the impact of aesthetic, social, political, religious, and personal influences.

Body Beautiful Part Two explores Michelangelo’s muscled men, Rubens’s ample anatomy, Ingres’s Odalisque, and Picasso’s fragmented figures: Anatomical accuracy and artificial enhancement.

Each lecture is followed by a catered luncheon, The Conversation Continues, hosted by the lecturer herself. The menus are specially curated to compliment the art subject discussed. The Conversation Continues Luncheon tickets are available by calling the Box Office.
