The rare artistry that has propelled Battery Dance into international prominence and its passionate social activism will merge as the Company unveils five new works in its 41st Annual New York Season. Under the artistic direction of Jonathan Hollander; Sean Scantlebury, Robin Cantrell, Mira Cook, Bethany Mitchell and Clement Mensah are joined on stage by Hussein Smko from Iraq and Razvan Stoian from Romania. In “On Foot”, Syria-born visual artist Kevork Mourad will enhance the choreography with artwork created live during the performance, with musical accompaniment composed by Silk Road Project member Kinan Azmeh from Syria and lighting design by Barry Steele.

A pre-concert talk on cultural diplomacy by Cornell University professor Dr. Penny von Eschen takes place at 6:30 p.m. on May 11th.
