Broadway World: The Schimmel Center Presents SALON SONGBOOK

Nov 4, 2018

Last night, Schimmel Center presented the first of two Salon Songbook concerts this season, Feeling Wicked: The Magical Side of the American Songbook. The concert, created and hosted by Deborah Grace Winer-formerly the artistic director of the acclaimed 92Y series Lyrics and Lyricists-explored the mysterious, magical, and miraculous side of the American Songbook with songs by Harold Arlen, Lerner and Loewe, Cy Coleman, Stephen Schwartz, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Disney classics, and more.

Songs were performed by Darius de Haas (Broadway’s Shuffle Along, Kiss of the Spiderwoman, and Rent), Linda Purl, Jenn Gambatese (Broadway’s School of Rock, Disney’s Tarzan, and All Shook Up), and Matthew Scott (Broadway’s An American in Paris, Jersey Boys, and Sondheim on Sondheim), plus four piece band. Feeling Wicked features music direction and arrangements by John Oddo, and direction by Mark Waldrop.
